Youth counselling in Langley, BC

Youth counselling in Langley, BC

For the young people who are feeling more than they know how to say.

Change is the constant of being a teenager. Sometimes these adjustments can be confusing and even scary. And you've noticed something has shifted — maybe your child has gone quiet in a way that worries you, or your teenager is struggling in ways they can't quite put into words, or won't.

Youth counselling in Langley offers a space where young people can be exactly as they are — without having to explain it first.

We can help with

  • Anxiety & worry — Perfectionism, social fear, school avoidance, the pressure to perform.

  • Low mood — Flatness, hopelessness, losing interest in things they used to love.

  • Big feelings — Emotions that arrive fast and feel impossible to manage.

  • Family & connection — Navigating transitions, conflict, divorce, grief, or a sense of not belonging.

How does counselling actually work with children and teens?

Young people don't always have words for what's happening inside them — and they shouldn't have to. With teens, I offer a space that is honest, warm, and free of the pressure to perform or explain.

I follow their lead. I earn trust slowly and carefully. And I hold deep respect for the fact that showing up to counselling — especially as a young person — takes real courage.

How youth counselling in Langley works

  1. We start with a conversation

A free call with you as the parent — to understand what's happening and find the right fit.

  2. We build trust slowly

No rushing. The relationship with your child comes before any other work.

  3. We include you where it helps

Parents are part of the picture. Where appropriate, we support the connection at home too.

Every young person I've sat with has had something worth knowing inside them. Sometimes they just need someone to sit with them long enough to let it emerge.

A note for parents

Watching your child struggle is one of the hardest things there is. Please be gentle with yourself. Reaching out is one of the most loving things you can do.

Joy on the Journey offers youth counselling with both Sara and Alicia Dover, our intern therapist, which means more availability and shorter waits for families who need support now.

Will the counsellor tell me what my child talks about?

This depends on your child's age and what comes up in sessions. With younger children, parents are more actively involved. With teens, building a private and trusted space is often part of the healing — though we will always communicate if there is a safety concern.

We'll talk through the approach together right from the start so you know exactly what to expect.
